Summer Fire Pits

Posted on 1 Apr 2021 By Coal Hut

A summer fire pit is an excellent addition to your home. You can roast marshmallows around the fire, share stories with family and enjoy a cold beer with your mates under the silver moon – who wouldn’t want that?

Why have a fire pit?

There are many reasons why someone would like to have a summer fire pit in their garden. Firstly, they can boost the visual aesthetics of your home, making it appear more welcoming and romantic.

An outdoor fire pit has become a popular feature for not only homes but nightclubs, hotels and various holiday destinations. There’s nothing quite like sitting around a fire pit, feeling the warmth from the flames and socialising with good friends at the same time.

No matter what size your home or garden space is, a fire pit can fit quite easily because they’re available in a range of different sizes. It’s a unique outdoor feature that you can use at any time of the year, which is great when things cool down in autumn, and you want to enjoy a cosy fire.

It’s also great for making traditional s’mores with the kids, and you can even place a grill rack over the fire and cook dinner for the whole family!

Fire Pit Fuel

A wood fire pit is the best choice if your area doesn’t have any restrictions on wood burning. They’re very easy to build and maintaining the fire is as easy as throwing another log on top of the flames. Here are a few of our best fuel options for lighting a fire in your summer fire pit:

Heat Logs

Heat logs are one of the best (and most affordable) fuel options for a lighting a summer fire pit. Each of our bales weighs between 9 and 10 kg, containing ten individual heat logs. They have an octagonal shape and are very easy to light, making them favourites for people who don’t want to spend a lot of time fussing over the fire and getting it started.

Our heat logs provide a natural looking flame and burn completely. You can easily stack them, which is excellent for open fires and fire pits because you can pick one up and toss it on the fire to keep the flames lit. The logs are made from compressed woodchip and sawdust that have been sourced from sustainably managed forests, which is always a plus!

Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs

Another great option to use as fuel for your summer fire pit is our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs. Available in a range of convenient lengths, these logs are efficient for wood burning stoves and work particularly well with open fires, fire pits and log burners.

Kiln dried hardwood logs are great for fire pits because they contain less than 20% moisture, which means you don’t have to wait for them to dry and you can burn them immediately. The logs provide a clean burn that’s long-lasting and ideal for those long summer evenings.
