A Guide to Smokeless Fuel

A Guide to Smokeless Fuel

Posted on 5 Aug 2019 By Coal Hut

What Are Smokeless Fuels?

Smokeless Fuels are a type of fuel that emits up to 80% less smoke than traditional coal, sometimes the smoke isn’t even visible. These types of fuels are becoming more popular, not only due to some areas in the UK having a smoking ban but because they can offer up to a third more heat than traditional coal. They are also suitable for open fires and multi-fuel stoves.

Smokeless fuels are a man-made product made up of naturally occurring materials. A large percentage of smokeless fuels are based off an organic product called anthracite; it’s used because it has a high carbon percentage, meaning it contains less unstable properties and therefore doesn’t give off any smoke when it’s burnt.
