Coal Hut Delivery

Posted on 18 Mar 2020 By Coal Hut

Through CoalHut.com we offer a hassle-free pallet delivery service straight to your doorstep.

That's right, you read it correctly the first time. Here at CoalHut.com, we offer a free pallet delivery service to customers in England, Scotland, and Wales. All deliveries are made by a tail-lift vehicle and transported from the roadside to your driveway entrance within 2 to 5 days! So now is the time to stock up on your favourite coal to keep your fire going for even the longest cold spells.

If you do plan to take advantage of this fantastic free delivery offer, there are a few things you should know before placing your order:

Where do you deliver to?

You can place an order directly online through our website to almost every postcode in the United Kingdom. If you are located outside this district then please contact us to see if we are able to arrange a delivery to you.

Can I collect my order directly from one of your sites?

Unfortunately, due to heavy traffic flow, large pieces of machinery and the general day-to-day operations of running a coal processing of bagging facilities, we don’t allow access for the general public to any of our storage sites.

How will my order be delivered?

Your order will be delivered to you by a local member of the Palletways network and will be a kerbside delivery (read “What is a “kerbside” delivery?” for more information) and will arrive on pallet(s) via a tail lift vehicle which is roughly the size of a fire engine.

The driver will lower your goods off the rear of the vehicle and use a pallet truck to deposit them as near to your property as possible.

How long will it take for my order to be delivered?

Here at CoalHut.com, we aim to deliver our products between 2-5 workings days Monday-Friday, excluding bank holidays.

Deliveries will also be distributed between 9 am and 5 pm on your assigned delivery date, however, if you have any queries or alternative delivery requirements such as timed deliveries then please use our Contact Us form to check if this is possible prior to placing your order.

Do you deliver on the weekend?

Our standard delivery is within working days: Monday to Friday, excluding UK Bank Holidays. However, Saturdays or timed deliveries can be possible for an additional charge. For more information about special deliveries please use our Contact Us form or put your request in the special instructions section when placing your order and a member of our team will be in contact.

What is a “kerbside” delivery?

Here at CoalHut.com, we distribute our products via kerbside delivery. This means that the delivery driver will drop off your goods to the “kerbside” of your property, or as close as possible: they will not directly deliver your products into your property.

It’s important to note that the driver is not responsible for removing the goods to a place of your choice, such as a garden or the side of your property, so please make sure that you have made sufficient arrangements to move your goods into your property once the driver has delivered the pallet(s) to the kerbside.

What are your conditions of delivery?

Our drivers are not responsible for removing the goods to a place of your choice such as a garden or the side of the property and will only deliver when:

  • The ground is flat, solid and unhindered by obstruction.
  • Where there are raised kerbs that the pallet truck cannot access from the roadside, the customer understands the pallet will be left in the safest and most practical nearby location.
  • The customer agrees to remove the pallet and its goods from the kerbside and understands that this is not the responsibility of the driver.
  • Where the property has a suitable driveway that the vehicle can access, and the landowner has authorised us to do so, the landowner provides a disclaimer to CoalHut.com and it's agents; disclaiming any event of damage caused by our vehicle, arising from our vehicle leaving the public highway upon the request of the customer.
  • The landowner also ensures that there is no risk of harm or likelihood of injury to the driver, or of damage to the vehicle or its load.
  • There is sufficient space for the vehicle to safely manoeuvre on the road AND operate a tailift with goods weighing up to 1000KG.
  • If the customer is not present and requests the pallet to be left on the property this will be done at the discretion of the driver and entirely at the customer's own risk.
  • If you need to reschedule your delivery, you must give at least 36 hours’ notice.

I’m not sure my property is big enough for the delivery vehicle. What should I do?

If you are worried that a large vehicle will have access problems to your property or be subject to road restrictions, then we advise that you contact us here at CoalHut.com before placing your order.

We will then make alternative arrangements for you, and see what is the best solution.

Are there any requirements that my delivery spot must-have?

Your goods can only be left on a flat, stone, concrete or tarmac surface that is free from manholes or service covers which can be accessed by a manual pallet truck.

Also, access to your premises must be suitable for a 30ft (9.2m) heavy goods vehicle (for example, can a fire engine get to the drop-off point?). If permits are required, they must be obtained by you, the customer.

What happens if I miss my delivery?

If your order arrives as planned, but we are unable to deliver because you aren’t home (and have not agreed in advance to unattended delivery at your own risk)

You will be liable for any additional costs that may occur for the failed delivery and the goods either being returned or redelivered another day.

These charges could cost you at least £100. So please make sure that your delivery zone meets the requirements.

What happens if there isn’t enough space for the vehicle to complete my delivery?

If there is insufficient space for the delivery truck then you will be liable for any additional costs that may occur for the failed delivery.

Please ensure you have enough space for the delivery truck before placing your order.

I’m not happy with my coal delivery. What can I do?

If you aren’t happy with the condition your order has been delivered in, then you need to make this known to the courier, who will, in turn, contact us.

On the other hand, if you aren’t happy with the performance of the fuel you have ordered then please contact us through our website and a member of our team will get back to you ASAP.

If you are returning any of your goods then they must be sent back to us in their original packaging and condition received within 7 days of delivery. There will usually be a return delivery charge to cover the cost of the return and any product used.
